Bio

Gary has been photographing, writing, and editing for magazines, corporations and organizations for more than 40 years. At 17, he was the youngest contract photographer for Eastman Kodak Co., touring the United States. He has written, produced and directed hundreds of corporate and educational films and videos. He counsels corporations, organizations and individuals on public relations and marketing strategies, including web, print and photography. He is an active freelance writer and photographer today on subjects including photography, sailing, fishing, travel and video production. 

For most of his professional career, he photographed annual reports for companies and  films for clients including Stauffer Chemical, Combustion Engineering, United Technologies, Valero Energy, Transway, Children’s Television Workshop, Borg-Warner, Sperry, and others. Gary was a picture editor and stills photographer for ABC Television, and stills photographer for CTW’s Sesame Street, The Electric Company, 3-2-1 Contact and Best of Families. His editorial work has appears in TV Guide, Time, Newsweek, Yachting, Business Week, Motor Boating Sailing, Good Old Boat, Soundings, National Wildlife and others. Some of Gary’s film and video clients include Financial Management Network, Salomon Smith Barney, Stauffer Chemical, MAC Group, MasterCard International and AMEX. 

He pioneered live broadcasting from the trading floor of stock exchanges, building and running the first facility for the NYSE. More than 250 worldwide news organizations use the daily video feeds from the NYSE today. He is the author of a book , Freelance Photography (Petersen Publishing), has won numerous awards including Silver Anvil team effort, NY Festivals GOLD, Telly, Cine Golden Eagle and the Asahi International Award. He was a guest lecturer at the New School.

He has volunteered for the Northern Westchester Center for Arts, March of Dimes, and the Hudson River Maritime Museum. He is a member and volunteer presenter at Bard LLI, on subjects including documentary filmmaking, photojournalism, and video editing.  He currently travels taking pictures, writing, presenting lectures and giving workshops.
